most get paid 50-70,000 a year salary. then they get perks and bonuses. on top of that they are normally from well off families that are weathly and they normally came from a good career where they made good money.
on top of that they deal with stocks, bonds, and other venues of investments and make even more there.
are they rich.....yes.....filthy rich compared to the average American citizen.
Figured after 200+ yrs the people, the poor, would figure out they can do better if they put a poor person into office that understands them and their needs. Instead we just get rich after rich after rich who just in turn get richer and richer and richer.

Some, yes, most, no. Some rich members of Congress (Past and Present): Ted Kennedy, John Kerry, John Edwards, Nancy Pelosi. The majority of congressman are not rich, but middle class.

Yes.
Almost all of them are worth well over a million after serving in Congress a few years.
Democrats say how they hate the Stock Market, hate Big Business, hate Oil Companies, and hate Halburton, but Democrat Congressmen own millions of dollars of stock in them.
Democrats also hate the Rich. But they are all Rich.
They think we are really dumb. And we are.

Some are. Both Democrats and Republicans have members worth millions. Sen. Kennedy and Sen Rockafeller are both trust fund babies.
There are people in Congress who use their position to get into business deals, both legit and not.
As for their salaries, some get rich from. Remember they have to keep 2 residences: one in DC and one in their district. In states like CT, that is expensive.

They are definitely paid better than the working class who has been suffering from a riduously stagnant minimum wage. Congress votes themselves raises all the time. They apparntely think pretty highly of themselves and their performance. I say we ask the working class to evaluate their performance.

It depends. Their actual salaries are pretty small, and usually senators and the speaker of the house himself are the only ones who get book deals etc...
However, many congressmen and senators started out as lawyers and businessmen beforehand, earning a significant amount f money before running for office.

If not when the go in, they are by the time they come out. Just ask Jack Abramoff. He promised that he's going to squeal on the 6 most corrupt people in government today, and they're all Democrats.
