I tried limeware. I do not like it. As it bears the danger of downloading attached virues. Is there a different way to get free mp3 songs?

Well i have used lime wire for a long time and i have never got a virus, a bogus song, or a music industry hacked song yet. I always make sure i look that it is a mp3 or wma file, the bit rate quality is 128 or higher and that the song's size seems accurate usually anywhere from to 3 to 6 mb, also if multiple users have it. Also with using any P2P network it is good to run this little program named Peer Guardian, which blocks IP addresses that track users (namely the record industry). Another free option is using bit torrents, they are great for downloading entire music discographys, on torrent program i would recommend is utorrent.
Torrents work like this: you go to a torrent site and find the torrent file you want, download that torrent file and then open the torrent in your torrent downloading program (utorrent like i named earlier)
the way it works is the torrent is essentially a instruction for your computer to find the files you want out on the internet through other users and it will download from other users, one problem is the less people that have the files and the less people downloading them at the same time the slower it works, not to make this complicated the more people downloading at the same time the faster it works.
Yet another path you could take is using a site called www.allofmp3.com this is a russian music site (any yes i is safe) and buy MP3 at a fraction of the cost (about 20cents per song). On this site you pay according to the size of the file not the popularity of the song

You can't purchase free music. If you purchase it, it wasn't free. Go to bearshare.com. For about 20 bucks a year for bearshare pro, you can download just about everything. I've had it for about 5 years, and have never had a problem.

I would suggest Imesh, they are confidential, free, and all their songs and videos get checked by a virus scanner before they put them out.
