Guppies are live bearers. They spawn and the female gives birth to as many as 12 live babies.
But, they are also very cannibalistic. To save the newborn from becoming daddies lunch, be sure you have lots of weeds and water plants for the little guys to hide in. To promote spawning feed them some food with high nitrogen.. I like Daphne or dried shrimp. When the babies are swimming strongly, it is a good idea to give them a separate bowl to live in. They will grow better with less competition from the big guys.

i'm going interior the process a similar element. My guppies , like a clock have toddlers the 1st week of the month. They have not been with a male for over 4 months. Then can reproduce till they die , some have informed me. you could run out room genuine rapidly. i understand this no longer alot of help yet their isn't any good timeframe in this issue.............good success

The guppy male sticks his gonopodium into the female and BAM! You have babies! The fry should come out of the guppy in about three - four weeks! The fry also come out alive which is why they're called livebearers! The fry dont come from eggs or other weird things they come out...like humans!

they don't reproduce by the male releasing his sperm into the water! the male mates with her by putting his thingy in her thingy, lol. the female actually stores the sperm and can make herself pregnant repeatedly using the stored sperm. i breed guppies so i know this. the fry need places to hide becasue the mother will eat them. the mother gives live birth, no eggs are layed, the babies just pop out alive and ready to go!

they spawn. the male releases sperm into the water when the females release eggs. though some guppies will have live births the male, i believe still spawns into the water.
