In the early-mid 50s, teenagers first got into this music that was a mix of gospel, blues and country music and was beginning to crossover to white musicians, as well as black.

The DJ Alan Freed coined the expression 'Rock 'n' Roll' to describe this new music.

It was a very old snack invented 100,000 of years ago when food was short, instead of a ham or salad roll, cavemen would have been fed on the more traditional food of rock n roll, simply a rock in a roll! Years later Jame Brown one day had one of these and shouted 'OH' as his teeth hit the rock. He then took the rock out and replaced it with sole (A dover Sole to be precise). A few years later Elvis demanded that the rock be return to the roll as he was just not getting fat enough on the fishy filling. He then went on a quest with the most excellent Bill and Ted to talk to God about it. God passed judgement and the rock was returned to the roll. Allowing Kiss the worlds number one Rock N Roll band to re write the classic Argent song 'God Gave Rock N Roll To Ya'.
So it would appear that infact God created rock n roll through a miss understanding between an out of date fast food and music.

There is no single person who "created" rock and roll. Its just a style of music with many broad interpretations. What some people call rock and roll today is different from what someone else might have called it years ago. Even different people argue over what music is rock and what isnt. But if you want to know who the best rock and roll artist is, then I have your answer.

Simple: Bob Dylan. : )

Apparently 'God gave Rock and Roll to you, gave rock and roll to you, put it in the soul of Everyone!*' Harry Enfield's Djs 'Smashie' and 'Nicey' would argue somewhat that they invented rock but I don't think they'd win in a dispute with 'the Big Guy' !!!
Why you ask my friend? Without rock we would be sans Your Bachman, your Turner and your Overdrive and would not be able to Rock Rock 'till we dropped or get Caught in a mosh!!!

Chuck Berry invented Rock and Roll man. Check him out, and I know you'll agree. If you haven't got any go to bittorrent.com and download thier software then go to like isohunt.com or mininova.com and search for him, or anyone else you wanna check out for that matter, and download thier stuff and see if you agree. I think you will find you do. Take it easy and all the best man, L.

I think it was Buddy Holly or Chuck Berry. I guess they created it because things were getting boring.
