depending on what type of phone you have, you may have overcharged the battery. Most modern Mobiles only really need a couple of hours for the 1st charge this is because they use a li-on battery. This type of battery only needs a couple of hours. What they don't tell you is that the battery will have some power in it, you have to run the battery down before your 1st charge.

I think a battery builds up some sort of resilience after a few full charges and discharges. They did used to recommend completely discharging them once a week about 10 years ago but they've got better since.
Some phones batteries last longer than others too. I tend to play with new gadgets once I've got them and then notice they last longer as time goes on - 'cos I'm not interfering with them all the time (apart from the remote control cars I got from the wife for Christmas that I can't get interested in..)
In answer to our question though, I doubt it.
Would you do it for someone else in your situation, if you depended on making a profit?

make sure the charger is the right type for the phone, first of all. No receipt, no luck, unless you have insurance on the phone like Verizon Wireless offers. you could try turning off the phone, removing the battery for a few minutes. Reinstall the battery, charge the phone & power it up & see what happens.

High street shops are under no legal obligation to accept anything back unless it's faulty. Most do however have their own policies on taking unwanted goods back but this has nothing to do with our statutory rights. As long as you haven't used the phone then they will probably take it back. I know a friend who bought a phone from the O2 shop and they have a returns policy even though it had been used (it was contract though) Your best option is to take it back making sure everything is in the box and ask in store but be prepared just in case, there's a chance you might be stuck with it

i used to work in technical services for Orange mobile phones... so i have a bit of experience with various different handsets........ although this is probably a battery fault, it could also be a faulty handset. the only way that u could test this at home would be if u could swap batteries with someone else's handset. if their battery works ok on your phone, then it's definitely your battery that is duff. have u got a 'pay as u go' phone, or one tied to a contract ? if u have a contract then u should call your service provider and go from there. if u have a pay as u go phone, then i'm afraid that u will probably have to cough up for a new battery. u can buy them separately, and u will probably find that they're cheaper on the internet than in high street shops.

sounds like you have a bad battery.
I would take it to the store and get them to replace it. also a good chance to pick up a charger for it. Sometimes they will have an extra charger they will give you if someone has brought a phone back for some reason. Especially since yours was stolen.
Good luck

Hi , does your phone have a big screen and bluetooth? The screen back light uses enough power and having bluetooth on drains battery quick too. other than that it could be a faulty battery. hope this helps. M
