Call 1-800-YB-Yellow for Yellow Book. I used to sell advertising for them, now I'm in school for nursing but I still believe you get more for your advertising dollars from them.

Oh, also call infoline if there is one in your area and see how you can become one of their recommended providers.

Good luck!

I have to be honest and say that this can be a tough business to get into and grow. Whenever it involves a matter of someone's children people are cautious about just "trying" anyone or any company. Taking an objective view, I'm sure you would agree.

Consider more viral marketing (word of mouth and recommendation). If you attend religious services try starting at your place of worship to get friends/church members to use your business. Are you part of any clubs or groups? By establishing these types of relationships word can spread if people you know trust your services and care giving.

The list goes on, but try to think along the lines of trust. Would you just drop off your children at any day care? You'll have big competition from established companies that offer convenient locations, pick up and drop off, liability insurance, inspections, bigger marketing budgets, etc... Also, do you do anything different in your business? Do you just watch kids or do you also provide one-on-one learning projects. Are you bi-lingual? Tri-lingual? What makes you different than all the others?

If you're just starting out then in my opinion your best marketing will be by word of mouth and establish trust that you will provide the best care, safety and protection. Good luck. I know I could never watch other people's kids!

Try posting the advertisement in the office locations(Inside the office) in your area. You can get this done if you have any friends there.
Train stations (only if have a proper message board & it is covered)

Do not advertise on a lamp-post.

Post signs in stores , gas stations ,, everywhere ... Especially at the grocery stores where every Mom goes and if they are dragging the kids ,,, they will take note ... Word of mouth by friends and relatives . Tell everyone at your church to spread the word and also get business cards made ....... Good luck on your new venture .

If you're licensed by DHS to provide day care then DHS may let you put up a notice in their office; also let the case workers know that you are open and ready to accept children...
