i am testing a science experiment and it would be a complete waste of time if i did this with no results, i am using nutrient agar and bottled water and testing if bacteria grows more in room temperature, in the refrigerator and in the freezer. can the bacteria grow? and if it can how long will it take for the bacteria to grow?

this depends on the type of bacteria that you use if this type is mesophiles the bacteria will grow in high level in the room temperature but if the bacteria is psychrophiles it will highly grow in the freezer & if the type is thermophiles it will grow in its heighest rate at high temperature than room temperature.

Agree w/ above. Also if you are testing e coli or similiar organisms, adding sugar to the media will really accelerate growth. Still, i wouldn't expect very rapid growth in a home system; aeration is required to get maximal growth, and that requires a lab shaker.
