If you agree to go on a break, i.e. not see or contact each other, but not mess around with anyone else, does it help when you come to talking about what to do next? As in when you're in a situation where you're not sure whether to carry on with a relationship or not?

Relationships don't just work, they have to be worked on you don't say how old this relationship is, if not too long established my question to you would be why would you need a break so soon?

If the relationship is a longer term one then there are two options, either you are thinking of calling it a day or committing further.

If you thinking about calling it a day then the relationship is probably over and you are both looking for the easy way out without causing hurt to the other.

If you are thinking about committing further considering a break means you are not ready to commit further.

True love is wanting to spend your life with someone, why would you or they want a break???

Well, it mostly depends on how long you two have been together and how strong your feelings are for this person! 7 times out of 10 breaks don't work, but I guess you'll never know unless you try it. If it's that bad to where you need a break anyway it doesn't sound like it's going to work either way! Sorry...

In my humble opinion, if you need a break, break for good. If you have to think about your relationship and whether it will last, there is clearly something wrong. When you find the right guy, you will know, and there is no way that you would want a break.

I went on a break, its hard because i was left to decide what to do in the relationship, the ball was on my side of the court as they say.
But going on a break, for me, enabled me to think about what i was wanting from the relationship, and to understand where it went wrong.
For some people, going on a break doesn't always go to plan, but hey, sometimes you've got to take the risk.

I believe going on a "break" isn't healthy for any relationship. Usually, when one wants a "break" that is the reason, eventually ,why they break up later (if there is a later).

No it does not help, best thing to do is to set time aside to sit down and communicate.

Communication is the key to a successful relationship and not time apart.

no harm in giving it a go rather than jumping straight down the line with divorce/ permanent separation.
