If you are concerned about the situation in Darfur, why aren't you doing something about it?

In the 1930s people against the fascists in Spain actually went there a fought against them. See this link:

So why don't all that are so concerned with Darfur go buy a gun, go to Darfur and help protect those poor souls that are being slaughtered?

What good does "awareness raising" do?

Even many jews here in the U.S. go and serve with the Israeli Army to support their cause.

Why don't those so eager for something to be done go do it themselves?

I'm not sure if this question is meant to be facetious or is true. So I'll answer it as if it were a real question.

First, we can't get into Darfur. If news and health organizations can't get in, neither can we. We can travel through Chad to Darfur, but that costs money that many Americans don't have.

Second, even if we went over with our guns, we'd probably be killed within the first week considering most Americans are not militarily trained.

The most important issue is that the government is complicit and backing the groups that are doing the killing. This problem must be solved politically rather than militarily.

because there are bigger fish to fry.

and if every american who thought they had a moral obligation to the world left to go fight fot that obligation america would go down the drain.

and most americans don't care.

and it's not even a plausable situation to go help darfur. there isn't an actual war going on there unlike the spanish civil war of the 30's. the government would deffienlety kill you on site, there is no army over there to join up with

Why are we not getting our money's worth out of the U.N.? What's the hold-up fellas? Don't see too many blue helmets anywhere near Darfur. What's the deal?

It would be hard to find a more useless or corrupt organization.

For one thing, it's probably illegal. I can't see our goverment allowing us to take guns and go to Sudan and shoot people. That is the type of work that SOLDIERS do, not civilians. What they need over there is soldiers to fight the militias. But nobody wants to send their troops there. Our troops are tied up in Iraq and Afghanistan.

I know...questions like this make me feel very guilty. I wish that there was a way that I could help. It's so depressing to read about what's going on in the world. No wonder God's angry.
