Shop online. I believe most prom dresses in the stores are priced over $100, unless on sale. It is costly to keep a store running at least 6 days a week. Try Cybernetplaza.com

Definately go to www.PromDressShop.com and click on their sale gowns for under $100. These are by top prom dress designer DeBora Rachelle and at a great price.

i suggest going to a second hand clothing store - you can search that on your local yahoo by zip code. many second hand stores even specialize in formal wear. we have one here in st. louis called my friends closet. you will find a beautiful dress at a reasonable price at those stores, and maybe even a purse to match!

If you're looking for something totally unique and ritzy, try places like White House Black Market, Bloomingdale's, Bebe, Demetrios, Nordstorms, and Saks Fifth...other places like Mariposa and Jessica McKlintock are cheaper places w/ a bigger variety of dresses.

I got mine at Dillard's (back in '97) so you could start there or another type of Dept. store like that. I think mine was something like $80...I can't remember.
