hey guys, could u help me? im doing research paper on ancient greek democracy. i just want from info about it. dont u too much big words when ur explaining it to me plzz! and also wats the difference between ancient democracy and our demcracy today??

One difference is with suffrage (ability to vote) In ancient Greece, only men with land could vote.

The most general and important thing you want to remember is that Greek democracy was a "democracy" in a more literal sense, because the general public would decide things and vote themselves, instead of electing people to vote for them. Our democracy is more technically a republic, because we elect people to act as our representatives.

Also, only white, Greek, male property owners were allowed to vote, much different from our democracy where restrictions are a lot looser.

Only men with land in greek democracy could vote
the men that controlled the were normally rich and thus they contolled alot of land allowing them to be a represeantive
women and slaves had no say in voting

Greek and US democracy both have two houses and have represenative but in US Democracy we vote for our represenatives

Don't forget that a right to vote the Athenian also had bare arms at his city's call. In other words all citizens that were allowed to vote also were the primary soldiers. The right to vote was coupled with the obligation to perform military service.

Today your right to vote is not tied to anything short of committing a crime
