My laptop is bootining up slow, really slow;sometimes I have to restart and try it again, but when it does boot everything seems fine. The only exception is when It loads it pops up an error message saying Defender something something failed to load.Other than that everything is fine.
Any idea what's wrong with it and how to fix it?

You mention Defender. Could this possible be the program Windows Defender?

If so you may have gotten a corrupted download. Un-install the program from your Add and Remove Programs list.

Try to boot your computer. If the problem is gone, then good. You can then try to download the program again.

Could be just that you have either many programs installed and you don't have enough hard drive space or you may have many programs, which are trying to start up.

To see how much space you have on your computer. Go to My Computer and look under C drive, or any other drives you may have.

In the first case, I would recommend either deleting some of the stuff off your computer or uninstalling some of the programs.

To uninstall the program go to Control Panel(click on start button and look on the right) -> add remove programs -> select program you want to uninstall.

To stop some program from starting up on boot up do the following -> Start -> Run (right hand side) -> type msconfig.exe -> startup tab -> uncheck the programs you don’t want to be starting up.

Also, defraggmenting the hard drive may help as well. Start -> accessories -> system tools -> disk defragment. (Also, under the same location try using Disk Clean Up)

And the last thing -> you may want to increase the amount of RAM - since you have a laptop that may be hard to do.

In some cases increasing the amount of Virtual Memory may help as well. Do this Control Panel: System, Advanced, Performance Settings, Advanced, Virtual Memory. (taken from http://ask-leo.com/virtual_memory_how_do_i_adjust_virtual_memory_settings.html)

But increasing it may not help as much. I would suggest to do everything I listed above, and then try to increase the Virtual Memory.

Good Luck

ps. When I was writing this, it took so long that bunch of people came up with the same suggestions. Anyways, good luck

Try defragmenting it.

START > All programs > Accessories > System Tools > Disk Defragmenter

What that does is organizes all the scattered bits of data on your computer so that the computer can find them quickly and easily. It might fix the booting problem. If not, see Microsoft and talk to them. They MAKE the software, after all.
