When I clean my computer, I generally clean out the following files:
C:\Documents and Settings\*username here*\Cookies
C:\Documents and Settings\*username here*\Local Settings\History
C:\Documents and Settings\*username here*\Local Settings\Temp
C:\Documents and Settings\*username here\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files
If your computer is slowing down, I strongly suggest running Defragmenter (through the control panel) after deleteing all of these files.

The ultimate way is to back up any files you want to keep onto a flash drive or CD's/DVD's, and then reload the entire operating system (Windows) and all of the software you use. That is like getting a brand new computer.
Best Buy will do it for about $100, also. But you must have the disks to do it.

The best way is to wipe it and reload everything but..
You probably should perform some current virus scans and spy/malware scans. I have had good success with house call by trend micro. They have a free scan service. It is SLOW!!!! (overnight slow) But it is free and works great. It has actually brought my friends computer back from the grave.

To be completely sure that you get rid of spyware/viruses, you need to start from scratch! 1. Copy the data that you want to keep to removable media like CDs, DVDs, thumb drives or an external hard drive. 2. Disconnect/remove backed up data to avoid re-infection. 3. Do a CLEAN install from known good source such as the original install disks, INCLUDING A RE-FORMAT OF THE HARD DRIVE. 4. Install current virus/spyware protection software and make sure you have a hardware or software firewall in place. 5. Scan all backed up data before copying it back onto your freshly installed system. 6. Run a virus/spyware scan on ALL of your removable media like thumb drives, external HDs and CDs/DVDs that you have made or used on the infected system.

if you dont want to download anything to clean it,
clear your temp files, history and browsing history
.
Open explorer, click on tools, internet options, under general tab, you will see history, temporary files, click delete, clear and all that. Well that will clean those traces, you can download ccleaner which cleans others like run, search files in windows.
Dont forget to clean your recently opened stuff. just get ccleaner and then uninstall when you are done
