As far as it makes you look good. Always design a resume to show your best traits and experience. If it looks good to leave some stuff off, try and make it look like you left it off to save them time reading it. Always show yourself in the best light.

It depends on if the work experience is related to the job you are seeking. For example I put related job experience well I left out that I worked at a retail store because it didn't really fit with the job category of teacher. I just put my related experience, like :substitute teaching, working in childcare, where I was a student teacher. Resumes shouldn't be longer then two pages so sometimes it's a space constraint more then anything.

Resume' 101 - Here's the 411: A resume' should only be one page long. It's used to get noticed, get attention, prompt someone to contact you. ONE PAGE ONLY
If you are calling someone in for an interview, don't ask them to bring a resume'. Thats stupid and its backwards.
If your going to be interviewed, don't bring your resume'. Thats stupid and its backwards. Bring credentials, real stuff, not flashing lights and advertising.

10 years is the standard, but if you have relevant work history prior then add it anyway. If you don't have 10 years equivalent then put all that you have.

i would go back atleast five years or five jobs. but some places ask for all places of employment dating from your first job. others ask only for the ones that are similar to the job you are applying for. i always put all of my jobs because they all seem relevant to me.
