Did the vision ever say it was the Virgin Mary, Jesus's mother? Could it be Mary Magdalene that was one of
Jesus's most devout followers? Could the disciple jesus loved most have been Mary Magdalene? We know the
chauvanists wouldn't tell us the truth if it was!
Don't go Left on me, I'm just wondering!

Per the other answers -- most of the "Mary" figures seen in religious visions have identified themselves as the Mother of Jesus. That said, there is a *theory* (and just a theory) that the Mary adoration of the Middle Ages could have been incorporating elements of the Magdalene as well as the Virgin Mary. There's also a great theory from Joseph Campbell that the reason the "Virgin Cult" was so popular, and almost all the 12th century French cathedrals were called "Notre Dame," is because of a lingering need for a goddess figure within Christianity.

Sorry to stick the boot into your theory straight away but, assuming you mean the vision of mary at Lourdes then she is alleged to have said to Bernadette "I am the Immaculate Conception".

Therefore the vision was of Mary, Jesus' mother, rather than the Magdalene.

Sorry !

The various historic visions of "Mary" have always been of Mary, the Mother of Jesus, and she has always identified herself as such.
