Of course I hate it ... BUT I OFTEN WONDER
Do those people who say "Can I axe you something?"
ALSO SAY
"Thank goodness the ask murderer didn't kill my family!!!" ???
I somehow doubt it..

I don't hate it, but it does irritate me. I have always wondered what makes people mispronounce that word.
"Everybody loves Raymond" had an episode about that. Ray went on a sports show and said the word ax instead of ask. His wife tried to help him but he just blew it the next time. Funny stuff.
Asterisk is also misprounced.

After examining a lot of your questions, I see which you're quite inquisitive approximately black human beings. i think of you will desire to get all your questions replied immediately in case you purely asked them. statistics do no longer lie, human beings do, and that they manage statistics, glibly cite nonexistent "statistics" and declare their very own, baseless guesses are "statistics" in doing so. (additionally, some fundamentals of English are to no longer end a sentence with a preposition, and to place a comma after "so" on the commencing up of a sentence and till now a popularity or noun representing the folk you're addressing, including "human beings.") wish this facilitates.

drives me up a wall. My daughter is just learning to read, and while she says ask properly, when she tries to say asked, it comes out axed, and it makes me want to rip out my hair. We go over it time and time again but to no avail.

It would be okay if axe made the word shorter, but it doesn't, lol.
