Just don't watch...it won't hurt...I won't lie and say you won't feel it but there won't be pain like a shot...

I hate needles too....

I know how you feel, I hate those things too, but honestly, heres how it goes: First of all, DO NOT, and I mean, DO NOT watch the arm that they are taking the blood from, just look away. They will tie this rubber thing around your upper arm kind of tight, but its to let the blood build up or something in your arm so its easier to take blood. That part doesnt hurt at all. Then, they will put the needle in your arm on the inside of your elbow area and you will feel a hot stinging. The stinging can be a little intense, but it only hurts for just a couple of seconds, and it doesnt really hurt that bad at all. After you feel that, they will attach the little vial that the blood will fill into. If they need more than one vial, they quickly and painlessly change the vial out and it automatically fills with blood.

Now, just relax!!! Don't worry!! You will be just fine. Its more the idea of getting your blood taken thats a freaky thing. But its really not so bad!!

Its very important to relax, and the reason for that is because if you can totally relax your muscles, the whole thing is a lot less painless and much easier for the person to put the needle in. Believe me - it makes a huge difference!!! Good luck!

Oh yeah, I forgot one thing, ask if they have butterfly needles, because I recently had bloodwork done with one and I swear to you I never felt the needle go in at all!! These needles are very small and made for children. Dont forget to ask if they will use one for you!!!!

I'm not sure if they will allow your mom to stay in the room,
but it can't hurt to ask. The procedure doesn't take long at all,
and before you know it you will be done. Don't be scared I've
had many blood tests, and believe me they are a cinch. They
start by wrapping a piece of rubber around the top of your arm.
this is done to make your veins more visible. Then the Tech.
will rub your arm with an alcohol wipe, you'll feel a little pinch,
after the pinch in 30 seconds it's all over. So don't worry you'll
do fine. It's important to relax , and not get all tensed up. My
advice to you is to not even look at whats going on*At All*,
and you'll be just fine. Hope this helps you, and Good Luck!

They will insert a needle in the large vein of your arm take a small test tube of blood and it will be over in less than five minutes. It will not really hurt don't worry about it you are only making yourself nervous. Turn your head when they start the procedure that helps some. Mommy can stay.

As someone who drew blood, especially on children, I can tell you it WILL pinch. Depending on the skill of the individual taking the blood, it should pinch very minimally or not at all. One bit of advice, you do need to relax, as much as possible and don't pull your arm away. This can cause you and the blood person to get hurt or stuck with the needle. Of course your mom can stay with you, if that will make you feel better. And...don't look, it will be over in a few seconds. No big deal.

it will hurt if you LET it hurt. a blood test is no big deal, just dont look, if it makes you feel better. think about something else & cowboy up for a moment & it'll be over. there are things in this world that hurt a WHOLE lot worse than a little old needle

they will let her go with you...i hate needles too and sometimes it hurts a little bit and other times it doesn't hurt at all...you feel a little poke and then it is all done...just be calm and hold your moms hand and you should do just fine. Remember this is just a test and it will be over soon...if you have ever been stung by a bee that is way worse than getting your blood drawn.

Depends on how much blood they take. She should be able to go with you. Typically, there is a slight pinch, and then nothing really. Anxiety makes everything so much worse, I know, cause I have to give blood tests every 3 months, and I am terrified every time. I hate needles too.

Good luck sweety.

It will be like a shot but, yes, a little worse. Your mom will be able to go with you and it may hurt a bit, but look the other way and think about something exciting. Make sure you don't start fidgeting because that will make it take that much longer. Just bear it and soon, you will find their done!

Good luck!

yeah it really sucks. but in a week you'll have forgotten all about it and be happy by knowing the results and being better for it. it doesnt hurt as much as the dentist filling a cavity, and it only hurts for a few seconds.

i HATE needles but i hate it not because it hurts really bad or anything, just cause they're needles, lol. you will be fine, stay strong.

not really........unless the nurse sucks and misses your vain, then it will hurt. if u have a good nurse that knows what shes doing it wont hurt at all. just make sure you eat and drink things with high sugar so your blood rates (BR) sugar level stays normal.

Yes your mom can stay with you in the room.

The proccess is done by nurse or doctor sticking a medium 3-5 inch nail in the area opposite of your elbow or your shoulder. then they suck out a little bit of blood, then they are done.
