This weekend is my birthday and I don't want cities.I want to see castles not mini America.I'm new to Germany via military I want to see things that I can't see in the states.We can't leave Germany our travel pass wasn't approved so we have to stay in central Germany.

Cologne and use the train to get there. When you come out of the main train station there you will be in downtown Cologne and there will be the famous Cathedral to the very left. You will need a whole day. From there you can go to Aachen, Koblenz, Bonn. You will find your castles

It would be easier if you gave us some information as to where you are stationed. I could give you some real nice ideas to travel during the birthday weekend. Like on the west side is Trier go up the Moselle River towards Koblenz and make a short tour on the Rhein even though I think that its not advisable in winter. There are lovely villages on both river sides (both on the Moselle and on the Rhein) or if you are too far from the west side of Germany there are other options. Just give a location (you can write me via my card).

take a cruise up the Rhine
there are dozens of castes on the river

Heidelberg is beautiful, so is Bad Kreuznach
