I am new to the wireless world of networking. I currently have a HP Media Center PC, in which I have a sattellite dish connected to the PC. I also have a simple Dell Laptop. Lastly, I have a Sony 46" BRAVIA™ XBR® LCD Flat Panel HDTVKDL-46XBR2 with a S-Sub 15 Rear PC Imput. My goal is to network my home computer to my laptop via a Linksys SpeedBooster 802.11g Wireless Broadband Router. I am wondering, in order to maximize my Media Center usuage, If I can use that same router or do I need to find something completely different to hook up my TV, in order to view shows I recorded on my computer on my Television?

you do not need another router to do what you want to do, you need a wireless media device like the dlink dsm-320. this will allow you to stream media from your computer to your tv.

It would be nice if you could hang your TV off your home network, but not with today's technology I'm afraid. Your best to network your PC and laptop together using Windows networking. As for your TV, your HP may have a DVI output capability on the video card. If so, that's the way to go to get a digital signal to your TV. The other path may be S Video, but be warned that S Video is an analogue transport so expect to lose out on that great digital signal if you go S Video.

This is a very general question seeking a very specific answer.

All devices should talk to your router. Depending on the format of what you have saved on your laptop, you may or may not be able to view it on your TV.

In most cases, unless you run the UPnP software on your laptop sharing it for the media piece, you'll need to copy the file from your laptop to the media server.

You can watch things on the internet if you want though, I suspect. Do you? I lived 10 years without a TV and no internet access and it was great - I went out and did so much more. I highly recommend it.
