Do not push the issue. Your friend seems to trust you and he will eventually confide in you. Just let him know you are there for him. You do not mention if he seems depressed or has strange behavior that would lead you to suspect him taking action he would regret or thinking of suicide?

Be there for him and keep an eye on his behavior just in case?

Too bad this happened at this time of year. Depending on the circumstances of course, he would be more affectionnate than normal with an understanding friend. There are men who do not open easily but would appreciate a sincere friend a great deal at a time like that.

You could perhaps invite him to have a meal or a drink with you and that might open the door to the conversation flow. Let him talk. And listen with your understanding heart. And do not judge what happened whatever that was. Remember there are two sides to a medal! Be supportuve but do not get involved into the relationship.

Good luck and Have a wonderful new year 2007,

That goes for your friend too.

Peace.

If you could just act normally that could help. Maybe give your friend a little more attention. Try to keep his spirits high. Don't bug him about why they broke up.

Respect his privacy if he does not want to talk about it. Be a good friend to him by being there. What do you mean by him being more affectionate? I hope he is not being too affectionate and using you to forget about his girlfriend. you would be the rebound relationship or the one who comforted him sexually when he was depressed. If he wants to talk, always be there to listen. If he needs your company just be there for him. but try to behave strictly as a friend and nothing more.

It's nobodys business except theirs. If you want to help him, be there to listen without judging and go have some fun together, and with friends. He's lucky he has a good friend like you.

if you see him acting this way only when she's around he's probably trying to make her jealous. On the other hand he can just plain like you.
Just be careful.

just ask him if he wants to talk and if he says no then leave it at that. he'll come to you when he needs you. just let him know that you're open and ready to help when he wants it.
