ZUNE!! i have one and its amazing. i havent had any problems at all. and the only people who hate the zune are people who have never even used one. the personalizable backgrounds are awesome. compared to the ipods same, plain, white background. and the zune has a Radio. adn the WiFi is awesome too

Dear M:
I feel the answer involves you also looking at the Creative products, particularly the Zen products. They have different sizes and prices and are easy to set up and use. And they sound REALLY great.
For managing and ripping songs, their Media Source is nice. You can use MS's Media Player if you like, you don't have to use Creative's Media Source, though it isn't bad at all.
Cool colors are available as are some accessories (not like ipod though) and they are reliable and rugged.
Look at Creative's VISION product. Great buy. Hope this helps.
