For example: I think I would leave the Leafs fan base if they ever picked up Dominic Hasek for a goalie....
Also: I also think I would leave the San Jose Sharks fan base if they ever traded away Jonathan Cheechoo.

Yes I suppose I am a Cheechoo fan. But I also like Thornton and Marleau. As for Hasek, I have heard some rumours about him being the cause for Ted Nolan leaving the Sabres as coach (after receiving "Coach of the Year" at that!).
Ted Nolan is a good coach and Hasek challenged his decisions because he was the star-goalie and deserved preferential treatment over the rest of the players.

Only if a scandal broke and I find out that my team has been fixing its games and dealing with the mafia. Only then...

I have been a Boston Bruin fan since the mid 1950's. It has been very hard over the last few years to continue to support them. Some of the transactions (trading Joe Thornton for example) their managerial team (That is a questionable term for their management) have made defy logic. Now they are keeping junior aged players in the minors (Petr Kalus - Providence) rather than sending them back to their junior teams to keep junior hockey healthy. After all these years it will be hard to not cheer for the Bruins BUT it has been a consideration lately. I probably would just quit cheering for anyone.
Clarification - If Kalus had made the Bruins and was playing regularly that would be one thing BUT they sent the 19 year old to the AHL where he has only played 17 games and scored 1 goal and about 5 assists. This sis not a growth experience for a 19 year old. He would learn more in junior hockey where he would have been a leader and major offensive threat.
Answer to your question. I won't convert to cheering for someone else but I may give up cheering for the Boston Bruins and maybe give up on hockey altogether. Do I sound angry with the Bruins management?

I always said I would stick by my team through thick and thin but when the Wings were considering signing Ed Belfour I knew that I could walk away. I almost did it when they resigned Hasek but I can put up with his idiotic ways but I could NEVER root for a team that Belfour is on. I've always liked goalies, my favorite goalie use to be John Vanbiesbrouck but the day he became a Flyer it was all over.

How typical for a Make Belief fan. Only THE best goalie possibly ever and you'd dump your blue and white, if he joined them. Anyway, you doofs booed Larry Murphy out of town to Detroit where he won two more Cups. Need I say more.
Anyway, I fired the Bruins after about 35 years of being a fan. gave up after the McDonut stick slap to Brashear, the Bourque and Allison trades and the move to the Fleece Center.
I'm stuck being a Canuck fan since I grew up and now live back here. Medicrity rules...ho hum! Plus our logo and jerseys have always sucked...get Johnny Canuck!

What's your beef with Hasek? Sure, he's old and injury-prone, but he was one of the most dominant goalies in the NHL. As for leaving the Leafs fan base, probably something gigantic like....promoting that useless tool Nik Antropov to assistant captain or something like that.

I am a Sharks fan and I love Cheechoo but I also love where I come from and I will always be a sharks fan. For you to not root for San Jose IF Cheechoo is gone then you are a Cheechoo fan NOT a San Jose Sharks fan.

Yes, Used to root for the North Stars. When they moved to Dallas all but a handful of players remained with the team. I couldn't see any reason for rooting for them anymore since it really wasn't the same team. Then I discovered the Buffalo Sabres sometime shortly after the North Stars moved. Been rooting for the Sabres ever since then. I really can't see much to make me change unless of course another mind altering move such as what happened the North Stars happens to Buffalo, then well, I might have to consider switching it up, but it would take me awhile.

If the Pittsburgh Penguins move to another city I'll be looking for another favorite team. I'm thinking Calgary Flames or Chicago Blackhawks. Maybe I'll just go with the home town Buffalo Sabres.

I don't know... I'm a Rangers fan, but only because my favourite player of all times is their goalkeeper(Henrik Lundqvist). I can't watch any games though, because I live in Sweden and we haven't got the channels you need to have. That's ok though, because I watch the national teams games instead. We won the olympic games gold medal and the world championships gold medal in the same year. Yeah!

I've been a Kings fan all my life and while it is not likely I would ever forsake them it is not impossible. I was a Laker fan until 2000 when they all started talking so much trash I started rooting for them to lose. I could see a similar thing happening if Shaun Avery doesn't learn to keep his mouth shut (admittedly he is getting better)AND stop taking stupid penalties. I suppose I'm "supposed" to hate the ducks but I like to see them win also.

I will leave the Sabres fan base if they ever fire Lindy Ruff or they change their broadcast team for any other reason than because someone is retiring. What they have is greatness, and nobody should mess with that for anything!
