I agree that its been well and truly overtaken by broadband, but it still has a place. Obviously if its the only service available because of line length, then "its the only game in town". I will be setting up PAYG dial-up internet access on a PC on the weekend for a newbie, who will only be using it to e-mail her daughter in Hong Kong at first. However, I suspect that online shopping may "force" an upgrade! Personally, I still have a PAYG dial-up connection, just in case my broadband connection fails, and I have to access urgent e-mails, etc.

Novelty and ok in 1998 when freeserve started. Now i would rather watch grass grow as it is useless with all the data needed to view the internet. Only good for basic email these days. Hope broadband comes to you soon.

Bad to the bone, slowest connection you ca get, broadband is cheap enough for a 512 or 1Gb connection. Routers are good idea to.

bareable if that's all you're used to, a pain in the *** if you have to revert to it having gotten used to broadband......... though it is slightly more bareable if you use FIREFOX instead of Internet Explorer........ as I discovered last month when my main desktop PC died on me, and had to revert to a crappy old Pentium1 powered laptop that I didn't have broadband working on (no CD drive in it, so couldn't use the install CD) while waiting for my NEW desktop PC to be finished being put together.

It's extinct. Lucky you. You can get satellite Internet, but you'll be looking to pay about $100 a month.

It sucks horribly! I live with my parents, and they use to have dial up. I would only go on the internet if I had to. They recently got DSL. Soooo much better.

Don't like it at all. You and other people in your community need to let local goverment and service providers know that you want high speed in your area. Do local schools have high speed?
