nope...if every other student is required to take those classes who aren't athletes, then those who are, also should have to take them. It is required by the school board that students take certain classes. An athlete should not be exempt from taking any classes just because they may have practices or games after school hours.
If that was the case that athletes are exempt from taking certain classes, then the sports teams would be overloaded with people who want to be part of the team just so they don't have to take certain classes.

No they should not. High school is meant to provide an education not provide a forum for people to display athletic ability. If you choose to participate in athletics, this activity should be above and beyond the requried coursework.

No. While I believe that physical activity is important, belonging to a sports team should not exempt anyone from classes. They are called extra-curricular activities for a reason!

Only from p.e. I think it is ridiculous that I have to take p.e. when I figure skate for 2-3 hours a day, every day! I don't need any more excercise and if I didn't have to take that class then I could get out of school early or take classes I need to take

Physical Education.
That's probably about it. Maybe some electives if the school requires it.
But this is high school. We provide free public education til high school for a reason. We want our kids to have a basic grounding in math, english, and science.
