I love that you can use medical terminology/anatomy, but say "get an erection" like you found it with your car keys or purchased it with some oranges at the grocery store. If you know the proper terms for everything, you should probably know how it all works. Good luck and enjoy your reading!

Only sometimes? Many guys find they are erect almost every day and some, like my roommate is absolutely every day. It is merely a natural phenomena. Typically a guy gets erect about every 45 minutes while sleeping and the last one of the night is the first one of the morning.

sellmeth... is right. Morning wood is caused by a full bladder that is pressing on your prostate gland. Any stimulation of the prostate will result in an erection. There is a physical reason "behind" the pleasure of anal sex.(pardon the pun)

Sometimes - how about every time? Any man who doesn't wake up with wood should see a doctor.

I'm sympathetic to your parasympathetic shortcomings.

Yeah, more or less. Happens to every guy as far as I know. Most guys in good health wake up with an erection nearly every day in their earlier years, not so frequent in the senior years. You also have numerous erections during your sleep, as your body continually preps itself and flushes blood through your organ to keep it in good working order.

Morning wood is usually caused by a need to urinate and not cause you were thinking about sex.
