While owning a 2000 Chevrolet Z-71 and a 2005 Chevrolet 4X4 nothing really different. The 4X4 is more of a manual thing. IE.. the term "4 on the Floor" actually applies. Manual Transmission, Manual 4X4 shifter, Manual windows, etc.. Of course you can opt to have all the extra options, but then you'd just upgrade to a Z-71. The Z-71 has the same Skid Plates and everything that the standard 4X4 has. However, with the Z-71 package you get Power windows, Automatic Transmission, Power mirrors, typically a bigger engine (ie.. 5.7 Liter V-8 versus the 5.3 Liter V-8 standard in most Chevey Trucks) Also with a Z-71 you get the push button 4X4 with the auto 4 Wheel Drive option. Hope it helps

If they used an impact gun it would. My husb. was a mechanic and his co-worker used an impact wrench to tightenwhere the trans shaft connects to the pumpkin, it totally destroyed it. The people went driving off and had to be towed back because four miles down the road the shaft sheared off.

If they replaced the tailshaft with the new transmission, they should replace the broken one. If they reused the old tailshaft, (no reason not to, most of the time) then it's on you. Were you four wheeling at the time? Do you have larger tires, suspension mods, etc.? These could have caused the extra stress in the drivetrain.
Good luck with it.

NEVER go to a dealershit for 'out of warranty' work. If they refuse to honor the work, for which you have receipts, call the BBB and lodge a formal complaint.
To further you efforts, park the vehicle in, or by, their location with a sign that states something lofty........'Save your bucks, this place sucks'.........or something along those lines.
