In their respective primes (favre mid 90s, Elway late 80s) who was the better QB. I think they are a great comparison, similar mobility, and the strongest arms in the league at the time (although, truth be told, Elway did have a stronger arm than Anyone, ever).
Who would you pick, why?

Elway, no question. Elway was less prone to mistakes, more mobile, stronger arm, bigger presence and single-handedly took a mediocre Broncos team to 3 straight Super Bowls in the 80s only to adjust his game to a new offensive scheme late in his career in order to win a championship (unlike Favre who is hanging on waaayyyy too long and ruining the Packers franchise for the next 5-10 years).
When I'm sitting with my grandkids decades from now, I'll be talking about Elway, not Favre. I've never seen a QB control his team's destiny in such a profound way.

Elway for sure. Favre has always had plenty of supporting cast to get where he went...until recently and you see how far they got the past couple years...but Broncos got far in Elway's earlier years with mostly Elway...when they won the SB Back to Back, he finally had the supporting cast he needed.

Both QB's are awesome and winners.

I'd have to go with Favre for reasons that are more personal than anything else. He just seems like he'd be a more likeable team mate on and off the field.

Both are true Hall Of Famers but Elway does't make that many mistakes.

I would go with Elway, less mistakes. And Elway knew when it was time to retire.

John Elway he was injury prone yesbut he played through those and outstanding athlete, fast, calm, strong armed, accurate, agile, and creative in the pocket he was in so many super bowls and AFC championships it's crazy to think otherwise.

Favre, 3 time MVP. Was in 2 Super Bowls and is the only quarterback to play in consecutive games.
