With a package deal, someone else puts the holiday together, so you get what suits the operator and pay for the privilege. If you're going somewhere where you don't speak the language, a package is probably your best bet, but everyone in Cyprus speaks good English. You can get exactly what you want by arranging your own deal - and save money.

First decide which part of Cyprus you'd like. Start with the Yahoo travel pages. Then find a villa (type Cyprus Villa into a search engine and you'll find thousands of them). Then find someone who flies there. The BA and EasyJet sites are a good place to start. Last of all, find a car hire place that operates from the airport (most do).

If you've never done it before, it can all seem a bit daunting. Just play with it a few times. Until you've fed in your credit card details, you haven't committed yourself.

And since there's no travel agent to remind you, get a European Health Insurance Card (avoid the site that charges you for it, it's free from the NHS site) and some travel insurance.

Depending on when you go in July will determine the price. Before the 15th July is cheaper and this has something to do with school holidays.
I would suggest going to Paphos as it is more family orientated there then places like Ayia Napa. However Limassol and Larnaka the the most central places on the southern coast if you want to tour the island.
Try airlines such as BA or Cyprus Airways. Easy Jet and Ryan Air do not fly to Cyprus. Or you can fly with Olympic Airways with a stop over in Athens. There are 2 airports in Cyprus. One in Paphos and one in Larnaka.
Car hire companies will generally drop them off at the airport and pick them up so you don't necesserily have to go with the companies based in the airport. In Cyprus you drive on the same side of the road as England and all the road signs are in English and Greek so is easy to get around. There is only one motorway that connect all the places together.
When looking for villa's do a search on the net and find the best deal for you.
I hope this info is useful and enjoy your time on the island of love x

Have you tried James Villas, an ex-colleague used to go every year. Said it was really good value for money.
