Vespa are an old company that have specialised in motor scooters since the early 50s, many "MODS" of the 60s had Vespa scooters.

They are sturdy and reliable and the engineering is solid. However being European they are having trouble competing price wise with the influx of jap, korean and Chrinese scooters coming onto the markets.

There is no doubt you can get a bigger more flash looking asian made scooter for your bucks , but if you are looking for a marque that is reliable , requires little maintanance and is a good long term option try the Vespa.

You will not be dissapointed!

I have wanted a Vespa since...forever! But I have a Vino 125, that has the look without the price. If money were no object...I would have a sweet Vespa in the garage. But I really love my Vino. It has space under the seat, and I put a basket on the back for anything I need to haul around. Whatever you decide, just ride...and be safe! ; )

a Vespa can be a lot of fun, but remember that it is technically a motorcycle and can be dangerous around heavy traffic areas... if you are just looking for fun riding around, then go for it... if you have a commute more than a few miles, then don't.

ever consider a bicycle? it is great exercise!

Not if you're going to have a car, also. Use the $3000 or so you will drop on a GOOD scooter and buy gas for the car. However, if you just want a scooter because they are fun, go for it. You will not likely actually save money just riding a scooter part time.

They're pretty cool. Not seen as quite the "genuine article" that a Lambretta is, but not the silly-money prices for good ones, either. See if you can borrow or hire one for a week, find out how you get on with it.

u'd be better off just gettin a regular bike. u'd still have to get an m/c license, and a vespa wouldnt be a very fast runner.

I had one in the late 1960's. It was a great scooter and a lot of fun.

You need to figure what you want a bike for. How many miles, what kind of traffic, how much stuff you need to carry, do you want/need to be able to transport two people? where you will park it. how to protect it, insure it, then see if a particular item fits the need.
