A little financial help would be great. my 10 year old son was diagnosed with ausburger's and tourettes (form of autism) he also has IEP at school (physical, speech, occupational) my husband (stepdad of child) earns a little over 50k a year. It depends on what state you live in. I know that in Indiana my nephew was diagnosed with autism and he receives disability. It is very likely that your son is eligible for some kind of help. Call your local Social Security office and try to find out what the requirement is in your state

If you meet the eligibility requirements (you have to have made SS contributions within a specified time period as well as meet their definition of permanent disability), you might qualify for social security disability which also includes Medicaid.

Apply directly to Social Security and see if they accept you. If not, there is a social security disability hearing process. It is a bit like a worker's compensation hearing and you should hire a lawyer that specializes in social security disability to help you.

Have you even bothered to ask, that's all it takes, also what your husband pays out should be a good tax write off, medication, any special classes you pay for, Dr visits, etc. save receipts, go long form in tax time. Also go to your local SS office and pick up material they offer on benefits, and ask your social security office, it's their job to answer you.

Possibly. It can't hurt to apply, though most people are turned down. You can also always appeal.

I'm not sure how much your son's conditions would be considered a "disability".
