Does any know of a good site to learn about the Vietnamese War?

I'm home schooled and I need 2 sites with basic info like when, where, why, etc.

Try to find some sources written by US and citizens of other countries (UK, Australia, non-english speaking countries). Some will be anti-American rhetoric, but others will be by serious historians. If you can find histories of the war written by vietnamese people who still live there and analyse it for their bias and your own bias, that would get you good marks.

I served with some other Canadians who were vietnam vets. I suggest Austrilian sites to get a non US perspective they were there too as members of SEATO (south east asian treaty organization) or sites on the French foregin legion as SEATO basically replaced them. The US got involved gradually if I recall it started 2 weeks after WWll ended, you may find dates to be difficult to pin down. Kennedy was the 1st to send in US troops and Nixon pulled them out I think in 72. UN peacekeepers from Canada, Poland and 2 other countries then spent roughly a year there trying to ensure a peaceful transition. They troops from 2 communist and 2 non=communist nations.sorry I can't remember the other 2. I had only been commisioned a little under a year when our Canadian troops came back. Hope this gives you some directions to look in for your research. I do remember the US lost 55,000 troops 8 of them were female.They also lost 4 female red cross workers.

There is probably more misinformation about that war than any other out there. You might also consider calling your local recruiting offices, tell them of your assignment and they may arrange to ship you the information you want. They can be very obliging, don't forget to call all four.
