Hyland's Headache remedy is a good commercial homeopathic remedy that you should be able to find in any health food store. It's good for " Relief of symptoms of headache due to stress and & 'nervous or sick' headache. Headache may be either right or left sided and may extend to the base of the neck." I've provided a link to their site for more info.

However, if you're serious about looking into homeopathic alternatives, you might want to consider looking beyond a commercial or standard remedy and visiting a classically trained homeopath.

A headache can have many causes, and a homeopath will do a detailed intake (I have a friend who's a homeopath, and his initial intake takes almost 2 hours), where he or she will look at what happening with you physically as well as emotionally and then come up with remedies that are specific rather than generic. The second link I included is to my massage therapy site. If you're interested, you can contact me through that link, and I'd be happy to get you info about the homeopath I know; I'm sure he'd be willing to talk to you and possible set you up with a practitioner in your location.

If you're not quite ready to visit a homeopath, the third link I'm going to give you is to a site that explains some of the complexities of homeopathy for headaches and why just one remedy is not the answer. For example, there are over 300 homeopathic medicines just for headaches. It all depends on the combination of symptoms, etc. Here are just a couple of sentences from the site: "Homeopathic medicines are different for various causes of headache. For example, different medicines are prescribed for the headaches due to shock, mental exhaustion, depression, anger, crying, migraines, injury and left or right-sided headaches."

So as an alternative to visiting a homeopath, I'd suggest visiting the third link to get a good intro to headaches and homeopathy. It also talks about the limits of treating headaches with homeopathy, as well as how to prevent headaches.

Best of luck!

There's an accupressure point on your hand, the soft sopt between your thumb and first finger. If your headache's on the left side, press your right hand; if it's on the right, press your left. If it's in the middle, try either or both. Open your hand. Place the thumb of the other hand on the top of the hand at the juncture between the thumb and first finger. Place your index finger of the other hand under the palm, under where your thumb is. Press for about 30 seconds. You'll know you're in the right spot because the accupressure points are sensitive. Press or rub in a circular motion (without lifting your thumb) - and it eases the headache without aspirin.

Option 2: Stub your toe. Then you won't notice your head hurts because your toe is throbbing!! (Laughter is a great natural analgesic.)

Eat or drink something light if it has been a while as your blood sugar may be low. Give yourself 5-15 minutes of quiet to just relax and close your eyes. Have someone rub your back and neck. Take a hot bath with a little lavendar oil or a good night sleep for a really tough headache.

Pure essential peppermint oil is brilliant for nasty headaches and migraines. Simply put 2 - 3 drops onto a cotton ball and inhale the wonderfull minty vapours for a minute or two ~ ensuring not to get it on your skin as it may irritate. Then lie down for 15 - 20 minutes in a cool dark room. The organic loose leaf variety of peppermint tea is also a great choice to eliminate a headache. Simply put 2 - 3 teaspoons of the herb into a teapot and top with boiling water and let brew for 15 - 20 minutes. Peppermint tea is also a good tonic for an acid tummy and will lift your mood and spirits without being a stimulant .......... organic is the best way to go as the essential oils in it are so rich, the commercial varieties have had so much of the goodness pulverised from them they could never possibly be used for therapeutic purposes. ♥ Any good health food store should be able to provide you with both the oil and herbal tea ♥ Water, water, water is what you need to stay hydrated buddy. At least 2 - 3 litres per day. Hey, you need at least 2 litres per day just to maintain aspiration (to breath)!! Headaches could be due to dehydration ~ other symptoms of dehydration are puffy bags under your eyes, dark circles under your eyes, headaches and migraines, constipation, bloating and cramps, inability to think clearly ♥ Also try to cut back on dehydrating drinks such as coffee, tea, sodas and soft drinks and alcohol (if you drink any) as these will not only dehydrate you terribly but also rob you of your precious B complex of vitamins ♥ A deficiency in vitamin B3 .......... never buy any of the B complex of vitamins individually, as they work best as a group, so buy them as a whole ie ~ B1, B2, B3, B5, B6 andB12 .......... will produce negative personality changes in a person and will also produce headaches and migraines, diahorrea, depression, itching skin. Eat more foods rich in this vitamin ie ~ fish, lean meats, whole wheat products, brewer's yeast, liver, eggs, roasted peanuts, the white meat of poultry, avocadoes, dates, figs and prunes ~ a handfull of steamed chicken does the trick for me when i have a cracking headache♥ Foods rich in vitamin B3 will also eliminate canker sores and often times bad breath too. it will give you healthier looking skin, increase circulation and reduce high blood pressure. It is necessary for a healthy nervous system and brain functions. Iron deficiency anemia can also cause nasty headaches, irritability and moodiness, dizzy spells and fainting, fatigue and exhaustion ??? Are you getting enough iron on a daily basis .......... ;0) iburofen and Tylenol will do a fine job of ripping you off of your essential complex of B vitamins .............. hence, they may work to start with but fail to actually cure the cause and only serve to bandaid the symptoms. I truly do wish you all the very best of health & vitality buddy♥ take care of you ♥ CHEERS ♥

Headache is a pain in the head, scalp or neck. Headaches can be
caused by minor problems like eyestrain, lack of coffee or more
serious reasons like head injury, brain tumors, encephalitis and
meningitis. Taking painkillers continuously can have harmful side
effects, so it is better to modify your lifestyle. More information

Get some sleep first of all. Avoid chocolates since they make your headache worst. When sleeping, be sure the room isn't stuffy but cool. Open a few windows if necessary.

Caffeine might help, but a faster way, especially if it's caused by stress or exhasution, is to massage downwards from the base of your skull to the base of your neck, along the two sides of your spine, pressing firmly. Two or three passes usually do the trick for me.
