I was being facetious. I'm saying that breast cancer gets all the attention. When was the last time you heard something about non-Hodgkins lymphoma (what my grandmother died from)?

Don't give me this bit about it being near "breast cancer awareness month". Year-round I have to watch these commercials. I know the cause is worthwhile but these commercials act like there should be hysteria about cancer.
If we want to cure a disease, great! Let's cure it! But focusing on one part of the body that affect predominately one sex is a little like saying life is unfair and all women are going to die from breast cancer.
Go to the doctor! Get checked! Then realize that cancer can affect every part of the body! Stop the hysteria.

Nobody is saying that breast cancer is horrible. It is understood that many people die from it. But why can't we just be against cancer as a whole?

I completely understand you.
My mother has pancreatic cancer, and usually when I tell people that they ask me if she is still alive (yes she is).
Pancreatic cancer has one of the worst survival rates, so why isn't more being done about it?
I never hear anything about pancreatic cancer on TV, maybe because there aren't that many people who can say much about it.

He understands that there are several other kinds of cancers, if everyone would read the whole question you would understand what he is saying... Tom is wanting to know why there is sooooo much emphasize on just this one cancer... Breast cancer is one of the leading causes of death in woman next to heart disease!!!! The reason that breast cancer is harped upon sooo much is because people do not know how deadly and devastating breast cancer is until either them or a family member is diagnosed. I can understand the frustration about emphasizing on 1 disease more than others but, sooo many people are ignorant or do not have time or money to take care of themselves like they should and just don't know what is going on with their bodies!! By designating a month for certain diseases people or woman who would not visit a doctor normally for this specific disease checkup sometimes DO!! October is Breast cancer awareness month!

Breast cancer is definatly NOT the only kind of cancer. There is a cancer for pretty much every body part there is. Blood cancer, bone cancer, bone marrow cancer, lung cancer, skin cancer, liver cancer, heart cancer, intestinal cancer, testicular cancer, ovarian cancer, brain cancer, lip and mouth cancers....just to name a few. Cancer can strike any age and any time anywhere. I do agree with you though. Breast cancer is the most advertised cancer out there. It is important to be aware of all the kinds not just breast....but breast cancer is a very common deadly one.

Try having a loved one die of breast cancer and watching her suffer through it. You wouldn't believe how bad breast cancer is. It is the leading cause of death in woman other than heart disease which is why you hear about that as much.
I myself praise those commercials or their efforts and every organization that supports breast cancer awareness.
However its not always fun to have a reminder every minute of the day of ur loved one. Everytime I hear or see anything I picture how bad my aunt suffered. Watching her await her death.

I get your point. I totally agree........it would get a little crazy if they had a commercial about every cancer there was. There are a lot of other causes out there besides cancer too!!
