The movie "The Day After Tomorrow" shows what happens to the Earth with global warming taking place. Basically, the movie starts out with the earth getting a lot of blizzards, tornadoes, and hurricanes. The main character is this guy who works for the weather company, you know, the guys who are close with NASA and all of that. He has this son, who is in New York for his high school decathalon team. The father finds out that in 7-10 days, the Earth is going to have 3 huge tornadoes and then it will freeze up. The Earth will freeze starting at the North Pole and will continue pretty much until the middle of Texas and the horizontal line across the world. He says the safest thing to do would be to go into Mexico. People don't believe him at all, but then after what he says starts to come true, everyone believes him and the United States is basically a rat race to go illegally into Mexico. Meanwhile, when the world starts freezing up, his son, his team, and all the other kids from the other schools in New York get this huge flood and everyone's trapped inside this huge multi-story library. When the son gets ahold of his dad on the phone for a couple minutes, he hears from his dad that the safest thing to do would be to stay inside, burn whatever they need to to stay warm because if they went outside, they would freeze up in seconds, which is true. The dad also says that he is coming to get him. A couple days later, the flood clears up, and the ice is hard enough to walk on, so everyone in the library, including the city of New York and all the decathelon teams, starts going outside because a police officer/traffic management guys says its ok, all of them go except the son and his team. Now I don't want to give away the ending, so I'll just stop here.
Basically, the movie shows what happens to the world when global warming gets out of control. It's a great movie. What happens in the movie will happen eventually but not for a long long time.

That movie? It's global warming. If you're talking about the end of the world, don't worry... we'll never see it. The sun will explode, sure... but in about 4 billion years.
