It was written and then revised before being printed, so you could probably say it was set anywhere between about 1796 to when it was published in around 1813. This was the time of the Napoleonic wars (but that's not really relevant to the novel)
The book itself covers a period of just more than a year -it starts at Michelmas, which I think is about September.
It's set in England -Hertfordshire mainly -where the Bennet's live, but also in Kent, Derbyshire and London.

Takes place in England and the Bennets live at Longbourne near the town of Merrington.
First published in 1813, Pride and Prejudice has consistently been Jane Austen's most popular novel. It portrays life in the genteel rural society of the day, and tells of the initial misunderstandings and later mutual enlightenment between Elizabeth Bennet (whose liveliness and quick wit have often attracted readers) and the haughty Darcy. The title Pride and Prejudice refers (among other things) to the ways in which Elizabeth and Darcy first view each other. The original version of the novel was written in 1796-1797 under the title First Impressions, and was probably in the form of an exchange of letters.

Jane Austen wrote her books during the late 1700's and early 1800's. That's when her stories take place, there are no exact dates given for P&P. That particular book was published in1813. Her stories take place in various parts of England, the specific areas are stated in the books. The Bennets live at Longbourn in Hertfordshire.

Longbourn, England
It was probably meant to be set in the late 1700's or early 1800's since it was written in 1813 and that would put it in the time period that Miss Austen knew best.

England, late 1700s, seriously look in the book, once you start reading it's really great you won't be able to put it down. Also, to find out the exact time period of the book look at the original print date. It should be mentioned in the 'Forward'.
