They can't tell us, because their plan is to continue the war, just adding additional American citizen's, who haven't joined the military of their own free will, to it. Liberals were told before they elected democrat's into office, (they having taken control of congress), what would happen, but again, they didn't listen to Republicans. I am afraid for the safety, and well being of America now, since the liberals are dominating congress, and it looks like we will get a liberal in the office of the presidency, in the next election. I am afraid he/she will be another Bill Clinton, who betrays his country, and it's people, by not defending her, as he didn't, when American soldier's were attacked, and killed, by terrorists on the USS Cole, our embassy in Africa was attacked by terrorists, and he had 7 opportunities to get Bin Laden. He did NOTHING, except to allow this great country to be walked on, used, abused, terrorized, and have us look like cowards to the world, and even to ourselves, when we are NOT. I hate the man, but I wouldn't call for his execution, without evidence, like the liberals are doing now, to President Bush, out of pure hate. They are tearing us apart, and with my love of God, and country, they just make me cry.

The Democrats do have a plan. A plan that is based upon testimony from Generals in Iraq (specifically Generals Abizaid and Casey)The Democrats want to focus on training Iraqi forces, with a clear set of benchmarks they much achieve (if they are serious about democracy and about a unified Iraq, they need to work on it). After the training is done we will withdraw some troops while strategically redeploying the others. We will move our troops out of Iraq and into countries in the region that are more favorable towards us, so if need be we can get American troops back in Iraq as soon as possible.
The war is over. Now we are policing a civil war (Al-Qaeda attacks only represent a "small fraction" of attacks in Iraq according to Gen. Michael D. Maples, the Defense Intelligence Agency director ). We cannot take a side in this war because Iraqs neighbors vary in their majority. Some are Sunni and some are Shiite. If we take a side we risk bringing other countries into this and we will end up with a regional war.
So doesn't it stand to reason that our MAIN objective should be to train and prop up an IRAQI security force? Iraqis have to become responsible for security of their country. As I have heard many times from Democrats and Conservatives: Iraqis have to love their children more than they hate their neighbors.
(The simple fact is it doesn't matter what the Democrats plan is because the President is still in charge. But they do have a plan and repeating that they don't, doesn't make it so.)

the fact is if they had a viable plan and didnt present it while they were not in a majority they would be under dereliction of duty. Its amazing people were gullible enough to believe that garbage. not being in the majority doesn't mean you dont have a say in what goes on. It will be more of the same because for now that is the only plan. Its is in the hands of the Iraqi govt and we are just along for the ride for support. they know this but for some reason people cant figure that out. good job Jenny you just said their plan is to do the same thing. and the funny thing is the media might throw that same line out but if you would listen to the men and women on the ground they have been saying all along that is what has been going on for the last 2 years.

the thing that upsets me, is our soldiers are stuck over *there* right now - without a specific goal or plan. it sickens me that while our republicans and democrates sit from desks fighting, our men are being injured and killed. Men who have children, and families (like mine) waiting for their safe return. If they at least had a goal, it would make our soldiers feel better. Right now, it seems as if they are running around like mice trapped in a cage without a direct mission. At least, this is what it seems to me... I suppose they could be doing secret missions we have no clue about.
But, yes - I think the democrats - AND - the republicans should act on a plan instead of waiting weeks and months arguing about issues.
We need more troops over there to get the job done faster so we can get our men and ladies home. I do know that they are deploying more troops... but, come on already - let's get it moving!

The plans of congress really don't mean much. Its the president that is commander and chief.
Congress can cry all they want to pull out of Iraq its the president that needs to give the order. The best congress can do is pull funding until the president does what they want.
Congress already submitted their recommendations to the president while he was on vacation (again). its just a matter of weather or not he decided to do anything

Congress doesn't have the power to order the soliders back home. What they have is control of the purse strings. They could force Bush into it, the same as they forced Lyndon Johnson into bringing the troops home from Vietnam, by withdrawing war funding. They can also vote to rescind the increased power the President was given to go to this war in the first place. There's a lot they can do, but simply ordering the troops home is not one of them. Expecting miracles in the first few days of power is not realistic.

Well, let's see...Last fall they were saying that they had a plan, and that their plan was to pull the troops out of Iraq because we shouldn't have gone to war in the first place and there was no point in our troops still being there. Shortly after the election, however, they announced that they could not simply pull the troops out of Iraq because to do so would be disastrous to the Iraqi people and the new Iraqi government that is trying to establish itself despite all the factional fighting. Wait a minute, I seem to recall a much-maligned Commander-in-Chief saying the exact same thing before the elections...Gee, I guess Dubya isn't so dumb after all, but do you hear anyone in the mainstream media pointing this out? Let me answer that one for you: NO, and you won't hear it because they don't WANT you to hear it. Typical liberal smoke and mirrors...

the guy in charge of the defense comity (i forget his name) has already vowed to cut funding for sending more troops into Iraq so that we don't keep increasing the numbers going there (that's not saying he won't allow full funding for our boys there now or those that will be there, don't get confused) as for the rest, they just got started, give them 2 weeks.
EDIT: you are wondering why they have some plans now versus none for Iraq? the ones they have now (minimum wage, student loans) are their non-partisan legislation.. they will reserve Iraq for bipartisan legislation after the first 100 hours.

It doesn't really matter if they have a plan or not, if they show it to us or not they have very little say on Iraq. The military is run by the President and only his view is going to be implemented.
The Congress (doesn't matter which party) can withhold funding but they can't set policy when it comes to military matters.
I see some of you don't like this but these are facts not opinion. The Constitution gives the President commander in chief powers - not the Congress. Sorry if you thought they would be able to implement their "plan".

Let's just hope that reason prevails and the best course for our country, Iraq and the world is chosen.
I don't care all that much who gets the credit or the blame if we can just do the right thing!
