For most national and international purposes, yes, but there are many local variations. In some parts of west Africa there are four days - 1st day, 2nd day, 3rd day, market day. Locally people use the four day week but the seven day week is there if they need to go to the city

No, in Borneo they only have 6 1/2 but have more hours in each day (it's closer to the Equator).
Some areas of the North and South Poles have more than 7 days because its so cold there that it takes time longer.

I do believe that has been standardized but will check about the China statement with a couple of buddies of mine who are working in China right now. (Identical twins teaching the chinese to play bagpipes!) It may be a couple of weeks before I get a reply though. I may have to rely on snail mail.

No way. In places like central Africa, Afghanistan, etc., they have less than seven days. That's why they are SO behind the times.

yes i think so. shame its not 9.we could have extra 2 days at the weekend,but i suppose that would make the year longer.wouldnt it? or am i just being a blonde!! x

I think the Miyans or Aztecs had 10 days with 10 hour days. Fat lot of good it did them.
