I have asked this question before and only got one answer that wasn't very helpful. I am a college student who lives in Los Angeles and I hate this city very much. My ultimate goal is to make money and transfer to a university in Scotland. Living in Los Angeles is getting me nowhere, the cost of living here is absurd and I will never get to Scotland this way.
I was offered a chance to make money in a small business over at Shreveport with a guarantee of making lots of money within 2-3 years plus I get to live in a beautiful house (no more rent).

So I might be moving there within a month. I need to know if there is anything else to do around Shreveport besides gambling, drinking or clubbing. I am more interested in music (not country), art, literature, and food.

Can anyone list the pros and cons of living in Shreveport and list the fun places and activities you can do there?

I would really appreciate your help.
Kindest regards,
~S

I live in Lake Charles, which is in SW LA, but I've visited Shreveport on a number of occasions.

Pros: Musically, they get a lot of up-and-comers being that they are between Dallas, a Texas music hot spot, and Memphis.

There's plenty of history surrounding the city as well.

It's a relatively safe place to live and has pretty decent weather as well.

Cons: It is sort of in a funky spot if you plan to experience all of Louisiana. It's heavily influenced by Texas (especially Dallas), so you won't get the best opportunities to check out the Cajun culture of SW and South Central Louisiana.

There are too many Dallas Cowboys fans, too. :)

I don't think the cons really matter much. We could manipulate, kill, lie, plot through other means...body language, thoughts, etc (that is if you're just talking about verbal language). But yeah, language helps a lot. On the pros side its a great tool to spread knowledge, culture, thoughts in an organized manner. Oh, I have to say, the greatest con of language is that it usually has some bias.
