After the age of 25 or so do people look at you funny if don't have kids or aren't in a serious relationship at least in a sub-conscience level?

i dont think so. i heard about the reverse situation in Europe (spain) there are more senior citizens then there is young kids. Spain's kids are children that migrate from other countries. i wish i had the article i read. i would have posted it. Maybe around where you live its like that but i havnt heard anything regarding that yet. =o)

Nope, you're mistaken. Americans are more progressive regarding this issue. That kind of attitude is to be found in Latin America, where if a woman is 25 and not married, she's already considered an old maid; if she doesn't have a kid by 30, people think she's sterile.
I should know, I'm South American. I'm 30 and not married yet, and my parents are getting worried. My sister didn't have her first child until she was 36, but before that relatives were already assuming and gossiping she'd never be a mother.
That's why you see so many pregnant 18-year old latin girls, because of this 18th century attitude that a woman has to have children as soon as possible, as much as possible.

Do Americans hate childless people? That has got to be one of the stupidest questions I have seen on here. People here are as different as can be. there is no molded, pre-fashioned model of the US citizen. I'm sure there is someone who hates childless couples. Look hard enough and you can find folks that hate just about anything. That certainly doesn't mean that most citizens here feel the same way though. I doubt most care whether a couple has children or not.

I hope not b/c I am an american who does not want to get married or have kids at all even though I am in a serious relationship. Then again everyone around me thinks that is funny.................... so, americans are judgemental people, but when your freinds are struggling to pay for their kids college edu and "little johnny" was found out to have some undesirable habits at the age of 16...................... and you are going on vacations to the bahamas with your significant other you can look at people who have kids funny!

Children are great but not a requirment, at least not for us work focused group, and thats good because some of us who stay childless do it for a reason - we would be crappy parents!

But hey, kudoes to all of you who are brave enough to have kids and be good and supporting parents - its a tough job and not one to be taken lightly !

No - had my first child at 38 and second at 41. Never felt as though people didn't like me because I didn't have children. Maybe you are feeling this way because of some personal issues... Do your parents give you a hard time about this? Although views may vary from community to community, "Americans" do not hate or dislike childless people.

It seems that way in certain places. But it's not that way everywhere. Unfortunately, it is here. There are people who hate me for choosing to not bear children (I'm 29 years old btw). There are some women who honestly sneer at me! But, what did you expect in a place that's on the eastern end of the Bible Belt?

No, I don't think people judge because you don't have children at a certain age. I'm 37 and in a serious relationship but not married (never been) My friends think its cool because I have no baggage.

Really? I think it is becoming the reverse: that people, especially single, with 3 or more kids are looked down on.

No. I think the opposite is more accurate--childless people hate people with kids.
