as long as the govt "rewards" people for having 10 kids, they'll keep doing it... Seriously... why would they stop if they get a thousand bucks a month welfare AND 800 a month food stamps??!!

We talked about this once (my husband and I) there's a woman in my home town here with 8 kids that we were asked to "sponsor" through the shchool instead of giving gifts to the teachers at christmas. I don't mind helping people out, but come on... 8 kids? If you can't afford them why keep having babies? I do with the government would intervene but how? Make us all "apply" to get pregnant? I don't think there's any ethical way to manage the problem... but definitly the thought crossed my mind.

What's really sad is all the wonderful loving families that can't have babies at all, while people like this woman can keep popping them out and not caring for them. I don't know if the government should make them tie their tubes though....I just don't think the gov. should have that much control over our lives. If we let them do THAT, what freedom will they take away from us next, you know? Giving them that much power could start a dangerous domino effect.

It suprises me that someone like that would even want to have kids. I mean I know most of them don't take care of themselves enough to get on birth control but why take the risk. There are programs for people who can get free birth control. I dont get why they don't take advantage of it. It's a sad thing for the kids especially because they will won't have a stable life unless they are lucky enough to get good foster parents or someone good to adopt them. And even then its just sad that they are now part of a system instead of with a mother who cares for them.

This really sucks I know but as far as the laws go they will never pass anything like that do to womens rights. I feel bad that the children are the ones to suffer and agree with you but thats life and there is nothing anyone can make her do. I'm sick right now because I know that , and these children are us in whatever yrs and thats what there going to do because thats what the mother did. i'm stopping now before my rage comes out.

I agree that is a sad situation its people like this who should be forced to be fixed. She clearly doesn’t care about her children especially if she did drugs while pregnant. The poor baby is likely to suffer because of its mother stupidity

In my heart I agree with you. I think it's a terrible form of abuse. But, once the government starts making laws about what you can and can't do with your body, you begin the slippery slope toward totaltarianism. Witness the consequences of the "one child" policy in China. Sex based abortions, abandoned little girls, etc. I am not yet ready to cede that kind of power to my government.

At first I was going to tell you where the bear... but then I read your whole question. My fault for jumping to conclusions. I agree. Why do these women keep having babies for the government and tax payers to support? Why can't we do something? I hate it when I see someone sooo excited about being pregnant when you look at their other kids and they are filthy and not taken care of. I agree with you.

I agree. There are a few sayings I've heard over the years that apply here. My favorite is "If you can't feed 'em, don't breed 'em."
I think people who harm children or are poor parents should have a tatoo on their forehead that reads "Don't breed with me." Yeah, that's harsh, but for people described in your example, something needs to be done.

I agree, our country should be a little more strict with things like that (kinda like china is)....if our government prevented children entering the wrong hands then there would probably be less crime, less homeless rates, less murders, and so on. Not to blame it on the non-worthy parents, but i think these numbers would decrease significantly if children had a chance in this world.

i also think so. my cousin was on WIC when her twins were born. she had a baby at 17, then at 22, then twins at 25. she completely didnt take care of them and when they did her c-section for the twins they tied her tubes. She has since gotten a good boyfriend and a good job and is finally taking care of her kids. i completely agree with you!!!
