♥ ♥ quit cleaning up after them, if they want their clothes to be washed then they must be put in the hamper, if they are left in the living room or anywhere else they dont belong and you have to either remind them or pick them up they will go in a container and it will cost them to get them back, either a chore or money....just sit them down and tell them the new rules... give them a couple of reminder days and thats it... it wont be long before they are doing it... :o) ♥ ♥

My kids are 91/2, 7, and 41/2. Just get a large trash bag and very calmly start tossing everything from their room into the bag. They will ask you without a doubt what you are doing. Just tell them you are packing it up for the poor kids in china that dont have any toys or clothes and that will be happy to have these since they dont seem to care for it. I'm telling you !! You will see magic. Do it every couple of months as a reminder. Works for me!!

they are old enough to help you around the house and so's the old man! if you confiscate the toys and put them under lock and key, they will learn. to get the item back, they will need to do a chore of your choosing. if not, after the 3rd offense, donate the toy to a charity. and start a reward program, start by explaining that the 'family' is a group, and that if it all works together good things come of it. if mom and dad have to spend all their time cleaning and picking up after the kids, there's not enough time for fun things. would they like a night out at the movies? nice reward for not having to pick up every night for a month. a good week, dinner out, the one who helped the most or didn't have to be reminded gets to choose. just some thoughts that i've seen used by family and friends combined. good luck

Give them an incentive. For kids, you have to motivate them. Just telling them without some type of reward, won't work. Rewards doesn't always have to be money, they can fun. For example, tell them the first person who gets their room clean, can stay up till 11pm to watch movies, or rent any video that they want that's appropriate for their age. Or get to eat their favorite meal for a week.
Or if they don't get their room clean, one of their priveleges would be taken away, and if they want that privalege back, they have to earn it by cleaning their room.
If they like watching tv, take the tv out of the room and they can have it back after their room is clean.

I remember as a kid, if I didn't keep my room clean, my parents would get a big Hefty bag and throw all my toys in it off the floor and it would sit in the attic for a week. It taught me a darn good lesson. I also had priveleges taken away from me.

Im pretty sure they like to go outside and play and im sure they have special video games like playstations and all that. Start taking away their privileges. Youll be surprised at how fast they get a can of act right. When my neice was five she watched this barnie video that taught her how to clean up and everytime she'd watch it she would just automatically start putting toys and stuff away without anyone having to tell her. Everything barnie did she copied. As for the other two tough love.
