Did your doctor suggest Pedialyte? You should give your son something like that to make sure his electrolytes don't get out of balance.
I'm surprised your doctor isn't worried about it. Five days is a LONG time to have that condition. I'd double check with the doc.

I wouldn't pay too much attention to ounces now that he is 2.5 months old. My 3 month old goes thru spats where he just isn't as interested in eating - this started sometime after he turned 2 months. Remember - if you were breastfeeding you wouldn't have any information about how many ounces he was eating (there just isn't any way to tell how much he is taking out), and you would just have to go by what he wanted. All this to say, don't worry too much about the exact amount, trust him guide his own food intake.

My daughter just got over a bought of diarrhea. Usually it lasts for 7-10 days (yes, sorry). As long as your son doesn't have a fever and is still eating, it should clear up on its own. Formula usually makes diarrhea worse. I gave my daughter pedialite, and that seemed to help. Just make sure he doesn't get dehydrated.

Is he teething? Even though many people told me I was nuts, my second child had funny smelling ,yellow, loose poop whenever she cut a tooth.
You might also consider a dietary element--more jucie than normal, different formula (or a change in the formulation of your regular formula by the company that makes it), your diet if you are breastfeeding. If you are formula feeding a lipid formula, you might need to switch to the one without it.
My 4th son just had what they call "toddler's diarreah" which meant he had loose stools alot. I even had to get a letter fromt he doctor for daycar about it. We give him that ACTIVA yougurt and it has stopped.
Keep talking to your doctor. As long as your baby is eating and drinking normally and has no other symptoms, don't panic.

my doc always suggested the BRAT diet until diarreah has gone.
Bananas, Rice, Applesauce, and Toast.
No juices and NO MILK, which both aggrivate the problem !
lots of pedialyte, I also tried the pedialyte pops, my son loved these.
the hardest is not giving a baby milk, but it will work, my son is three and it works like a charm everytime!
Also, I cant believe your doctor told you not to worry about Diarreah! that means something is wrong and he should have given you more tips or something! mine always has, even diareah she takes it seriously!

It sounds like your keeping in touch with your doctor which is good. Both of my sons would have diarrhea when they were teething. You might want to give him a little bit of bananas if you have him on food. They help with diarrhea. If not have you put him on any thing new? That might be it also. Good luck!

The doctor is probably right. I don't know what kind of eating/drinking he does, but if he drinks normal juices, etc., try giving him some gatorade or powerade. The electrolytes will help to retain the fluids and create a hydrotonic environment in his intestines.

my daughter started having bouts of this starting at the same age. She just gets over it, and lke you say, is fine except for the wattery poop. Just relax and try and feed her some more fiber and TAKE IT EASY ON THE JUICE AND FRUIT....that always triggers it...I didnt know my toddler was only supposed to have 4 oz of juice a day.....

I know that teething can cause it. You should get him some pedialyte it will keep his electrolytes in balance and keep from being dehydrated. My son gets it too and the docotr isn't really concerned unless he is running a temp.

If he's teething then that may explain the diarrhea, just give him plenty of pedialyte and make sure he doesn't get dehydrated.
