They have been out of power for 12 years, they are desperately looking for some kind of a hero. They finally find themselves three heartbeats from the presidency and they can't contain themselves.

Well, Sassikatz,
It works this way. D.C. has, since virtual thespianism was perfected, had only one actual person creating all the perceived performers but with several great writers from Hollywood. Kind of like "Wag the Dog".
Now, any good writer can tell you that Pelosi will have to fall from grace and become a great Satan in order to keep our interest.
We must gasp 'involuntarily' when she falls from grace. As we did when we realized Bush had actually piloted one of the planes into the WTC and parachuted out at the last minute (Bill and Monica rolled out of the "doggy door" somewhere over Chicago).
Hillary will save the day and be elected president to cheers all around - none louder than George the first's as he collects his waiger from George II who swore he could get an amendment to allow foreign born Schwarzenegger or underage Chelsea, then bankroll the rookie of his choice.
It just doesn't get better than American Football..er Politics, does it folks?

My guess is that she is as different from the current powers that be (actually, current as of yesterday....) and in a way, she sends a clear message to the Republican party that the Democrats are now the majority. Had the Dems selected a middle aged man who is a "Conservative Liberal", they would be aligning themselves too much with the prior regime. Without getting into a political debate, Pelosi represents a "kick in the butt" to the administration by saying, "We're going to nominate someone who is completely different from you so that we can show how wrong you were... and how right we are." But only time will tell if it was a mistake, or complete genius.

Nobody considers Nancy Pelosi a goddess!
The only huge issue is that a woman finally took that spot as speaker of the house! So history has been made.
A very small step for the democrats a huge step for woman everywhere!

Actually, from my experience, conservatives seem to give Speaker Pelosi more importance than liberals do. Most liberals seem happy about the November results, but consider Nancy Pelosi just part of that. Conservatives are the ones who constantly bring her up and make her out to be a big deal. She's no more or less important than Dennis Hastert was, and 80% of Americans didn't even know who he was.
This message brought to you from somewhere in the middle.

A) They don't.
B) It's been awhile since we've had a democrat as speaker of the house. Angered by how much Bush was able to get away with with a Republican majority house and senate, we see overal winning the house a chance to be heard in the government.
For all of the Republicans still complaining about the loss, Clinton had to be president under a republican majority congress for much longer than G.W. will have to be. This is democacy, the people voted, and your president blew your party's chance of holding on to Congress, Iraq, the economy, etcetera.

Appreciating her intelligence and ability to bring the Democratic Party together is hardly worship. Of course, I've been wondering for some time why the far right talks about her like she's the Head of the New Communist Party. I understand that she's a feisty and very vocal Democrat and therefore they don't like her simply for that. But this over the top ranting about her and Hillary being communists, socialists, etc. isn't exactly the stuff of reality either is it?

perhaps you are confusing admiration of an historical event with praising of a deity.. .. the first female speaker of the house ever is something to look at and say "this is neat, we've finally almost gotten over the hump".. but I hold her in no higher regard than I do any of her peers.. she is still a human and will make both good and bad decisions in her term, just like everyone else regardless of party... but she hasn't tarnished her name yet like others have.. so she has my support at this time.

Uh,not quite.
At least she admitted its time to "drain the swamp",unlike Tom Delay, who conservatives turned a blind eye to,with all of his corruption.
Jeffisagirl's answer is wrong, exactly backwards, and a case in point of conservartives in denial.

Because Libs are completely delusional, totally dysfunctional, and flat out the most ignorant people on the face of the earth. Pelosi is a perfect fit for them.

I don't think the Democrats look at her as a god, they are proud of her just like I am for making history, being the first woman as Speaker of the House.
