We live together and have since I was 15. I am now 18 I have been paying bills since I was 16. He has debt that I help him pay and I pay more bills than he does so he can focus on his debt.
He just bought a car he knew it would break his bank. Well I just got a $2000.00 christmas bonus. I spent $500.00 of that towards Christmas presents for him and our family. And on top of that I spent my whole $800.00 check on our groceries and some more presents, and then I had to go into my bonus and take out $400.00 to hel

He is now asking me to help him out on his half of rent. I ALREADY AM PAYING OUR RIDICULOUSLY HIGH CABLE and Electricicty cuz he hasn’t paid his half. He is getting mad at me because I have $1100 remainin of my bonus. But I have to pay about $400.00 to put an alternator in my Mitsubishi, and still have to take care of the past due bills we are accumulating.
I haven’t even gone shopping for ME! Its stressing me out, and he is getting mad at me.
Let me remind you we are in love and been together for 3 years.

its time to let him go, relationships are about compromise and he doesn't seem to know the meaning of the word, its not fair for you to have to pay for your stuff and his stuff too, he should be a man and take some ownership for his own bills in the relationship, its not your job to take care of things for him, he bought a car which was stupid on his part he should have been thinking about using the money spent on that to take care of of his debt that was already in place, if he cant pay his bills then he needs to get a job and if one isn't paying them then he needs to get two but this is not your responsibility, and if he cant pay his own way then he needs to get out because you can do much better by yourself...

Your 18 years old so you are mature enough to make your own decisions about money. All these decisions should reflect what is best for YOU, and no one else. My advice is to take money and open up your own secret savings account for a rainy day...should the weather permit.

You haven't adopted him and are not responsible for his inability to budget his money. You need to get a savings account that he doesn't know about. It is easier and shouldn't cause hard feelings if you say "I don't have it" as it would if you say no. When he finds out he can't use you he might decide to find another sugar momma....Good Luck...

things should be split as evenly as possible. my hubby and i lived together for 2.5 years before we got married and up until we were engaged we split the bills evenly. ALL THE BILLS! and we had been dating for over 7 years. after we got engaged we got a joint bank account, all of our money went into it and we discuss everything we spend with each other to this day.
thats the way it should go.
he's taking advantage of you, you need to set him straight.

Hey just explain to him why you feel the way you do and then tell him he needs to get that money back to you and find a way to get more money for his expenses........also tell him if he's having this problems now how is it gonna be when yall married.....tell him he needs to straigten up before he's down and out on his luck

well my thinking is if hr really loved you he would not ask you pay his part of the bills. Its 50-50 deal so tell him pay up your share or give the up the new car till you can aford it.
