There's a science fair coming up, and I have 2 ideas:
-How music affects plants(with growth)
and -Optical Illusions
But I feel those are too common. Can anyone tell me which idea is better and suggest any other ideas to me?

I did a science experiment using plants like you describe. For one set, I played Mozart's Pastoral. The other set, a portion of a haunted house cassette. Each group consisted of 4 plants that each had the same number of leaves. I fed them the same amount of water and plant food, kept them exposed to the same amount of sunlite. The mozart plants florished. the Halloween plants died about a month into the 6 week experiment. the only thing that kept me from getting an A+ was that I did not have a control group to compare the results with But, that was not the purpose of the experiment,so I still got an A.

Good luck.

You should use the topic you are most interested in and maybe give it a twist. If you like optical illusions, try to see how some affect people who wear glasses as opposed to people who don't. If you want to go with music and plant growth try playing one song over and over with one plant and with the other play a variety of musical styles and then as always have a control with no music at all and chart your results. Good luck.

Hi. You don't say how old you are, but I'll tell you two that I did in 4th and 5th grade. I did one on which bran cereal has the most raisins in it. That was a good one and I earned an "A". I also did a fun one on which brand of toothpaste whitens teeth the best. I used a hard boiled egg to test the toothpaste brands, and I tested about 6 different brands. This was a fun one. You can find info on line about it. If you do this one, you need to get the timing down well. I earned an "A" on that one too.

I always hated those Science Fairs. The kids who won them at my school were the kids whose parents were the Chemists - no kidding. Good luck.

Do you have any pets? How about how music affects your pets? Rap, rock, pop, country, and how they react to it. My best friend did that once and it worked out well. Good luck
