Zeus was the son of the Greek god and goddess Cronos and Rhea.
Before Zeus was born, it was fated that Cronus be killed by one of his children. Whenever Rhea gave birth to a child, Cronos would swallow the child whole, thinking he would therefore be safe. However, after 5 children were born, Rhea became tired of watching her children die and when she bore Zeus, she hid him from Cronos and gave him a stone to swallow instead.
Zeus was raised by a nymph and suckled with goat's milk. When he came to manhood, he ascended to the heavens to face his father. Cronos' head was severed in the battle and he died. Suddenly, out stepped 5 beautiful gods and goddesses - all five children that Cronos had swallowed stepped from his severed body. Poseidon, god of the waters; Hades, god of the underworld; Hera, queen of the gods and Zeus' wife; Demeter, goddess of the earth; and Vesta, goddess of the hearth. Zeus, as the strongest, was named king of the gods and was god of the air.
The 6 gods moved to Mount Olympus and reigned from there.

Zues came from the evolution of or language. Language is a curse of ours that causes history to change over time. Language has become more and more ambigiuos. It is extremely difficult to interpret what others actually mean when they say something to you, expecially in a book or historical text because the meanings and feelings they attach to certain words will be different than your own. We all sense percieve the world in a very different way. To me, Zues may have been a ruler or leader or president of an ancient civilization. Not a God. Not a myth. But this is how myths are made
