Jesi - why do you think Jane Harman was "overlooked"? Pelosi simply picked someone else who she thought better represented Democratic voters.

Absolutely! It's about time!! But, when you stop to think of it, it wasn't all that long ago that the Supreme Court was all white guys. Now we have women and blacks in higher and higher positions so it was time that we'd have a female Speaker of the House.

I'm very proud of Nancy Pelosi making history today by becoming the first woman Speaker of the House. I think she;ll do a good job, I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw that she 66 years old. I don't think she looks even 50, she sure don't look 66, she was Born 1940

I'm happy for her being the first woman Speaker of the House, but I'm not proud of her. Her extreme polictical views are scary and the fact she overlooked fellow democrat and woman Jane Harmon as committee chair for Homeland Security proves Pelosi doesn't get it and is just polictics as usual.

Yes, I am proud of her. She's fearless that one, and I expect great things from her. If she shines as I expect her to, she'll be a great boon to Hillary's run for President.
