Where've you been? What you suggested is exactly how it used to be.

Here's the reasons:
-More Games
-More Tickets to be sold
-More $$$ to be made
-More airtime for advertisers
-etc...

Here's the arguments:
-More excitement
-the public tends to route for the underdogs

i do no longer understand in case you're able to call it a choke however the Yankees won't win that branch. The Rays will win via a million or 2 video games however the Yankees will nevertheless be a wild card. i think of the main obtrusive option to choke may be the Braves. they're suffering because of the fact the All megastar smash merely enjoying .500 baseball because of the fact that. The White Sox have an extremely stable team and that i do no longer think of they are going to choke. they're on a roll and Detroit has fallen out of it so it is in uncomplicated terms a 2 team race. i could think of the only different team able to extremely choke is the Padres. The Cardinals and Reds are so close and switching spots on a daily basis it form of sounds like, that whoever loses that branch won't likely be seen a choke according to se.

See last years superbowl champions Pittsburgh steelers, wild card....its because a star player or several good players can be injured throughout the season and make a real good team have a bad record the wild card gives those teams a better chance
