And was it better living under this dictatorship than in some of the worst and most corrupt democracies (where poverty kills more people than a dictator would/could)?
I'd be interested to hear from people who've actually lived in a dictatorship.
The reason I ask is about 50% of Chileans speak highly of General Pinochet, as do quite a few spaniards of Franco, and not to mention all the lefties who love Castro.
There seem to be a lot of people in the US/UK who spout off things like 'freedom isn't free' in the comfort of their stable and prosperous democracy, when probably living under a dictatorship they'd be the last to stand up and fight against at.

The only folks in those countries you mentioned were among the kleptocrats that were not at the pointy end of the government.

Kings, emperors and other dictators have ruled decently but, but only as well as their own honor forced them to, and of course those hurt never got to complain much.

There were some fairly quite times in Chinese history, but the peasants thoughts are not recorded, there is a tale of a unicorn like beast that shows up whenever there is an honest Emperor, but it was never seen.

Brazil had a king, that did about as good as any, and made sure that a Democracy followed him.

Stable & prosperous democracy in the USA??? Maybe if your wealthy or employed! Not for the poor & unemployed its horrifing we are ignored, outcasted & left out in the cold to die! The welfare some of these people complain about all the time is not existant! I can file for all the benifits listed but will get denied and left to starve! If they did give me food stamps it would be around $130.00 dollars a month! Who can live a healthy diet in USA on that nobody, so i am being denied something thats all but worthless! By the way it makes no difference what a countries political structure calls itself because all over wherever you go on earth their is a ruling weathy class as puppet masters and the the frontline puppets or puppet etc!

How come your purposefully mispell Arab..... anyhow no. Peace loving doesnt come out of living in a democracy or any style of government. If one cares to look on the chart of the Richest countries frequently the richest worldwide places in line with capita are the main non violent ones. incredibly in Europe. Why? because of the fact their neighbours are they greatest procuring and merchandising companions. in case you enhance the financial capability of midsection eastern countries i think of their human beings will grow to be extra grasping and selfish as Westerners and disrespect conflict as a factor of the previous like the Europeans

Present day Singapore can be regarded as a dictatorial state, a most comfortable one though. What about Monaco?
