I had the same problem for ages, and found it so unplesant. Not only was i uncomfortable, but had fatigue, so felt absolutely awful. I did a number of things, and havent had thrush for a few months now, so they may be worth a try.
Firstly, i went to see my doctor (a woman), who explained that often people develop such a high level of yeast that over the counter drugs from a pharmacy wont help. She took a quick swab from me and when it showed my yeast levels were too high she put me on a low dose of the oral tablets for a week. Then a month later she repeated the prescription to make sure it was gone.
I have also stopped using normal shower gel or soap and instead use a soap designed not to irritate, as the vagina can be irritated by perfumes etc. Boots and other chemists sell them, normally near tampons - there are a few different choices. Also, if possible try and use organic tampons and sanitary towels. THey have no chemicals or bleach, which again can irritate you. THey are not that much more expensive than normal ones. You can get them in big Boots or natural health shops. Cranberries are also helpful, and if you dont like them (i dont) you can get a vitamin that contains them. I also take Acidophilus Plus, which is ment to be good at balancing yeast. Both of these i got in boots, though a health shop will have them.
Finally, try and avoid wearing non cotton underwear - it is meant to help, though i like pretty knickers too much!
I hope that all helps.

Well, what drugs have you been on; you don't say...

"Thrush" is usually used for oral yeast problems, so that is what I'm assuming you're talking about. Some inappropriately use the term for vaginal yeast infections.

Nystatin is the most helpful drug for actual thrush in the mouth and digestive tract. It is a very non-toxic drug, almost none of it being absorbed, and can be taken in high dosages. If you got Nystatin capsules, you'd want to chew them up completely in your mouth and swish them around for a couple minutes, gargle it, and then swallow, and refrain drinking anything for a while after doing this. The best approach, though, would be to take Nystatin with a systemic drug for yeast, since Nystatin is not absorbed. Nystatin can be taken multiple times per day and in very high dosages with no worry whatsoever. Even in people with collapsed immune systems, Nystatin can eradicate thrush in the mouth and digestive tract typically for this reason.

The reason why the particular drug "Nystatin" is important here is because it is the only drug that is very effective at wiping out yeast throughout the entire digestive tract, since it is not absorbed. Other drugs will be absorbed, and thus won't be as effective at removing yeast from the intestines. The idea is to wipe out candida from the entire digestive tract, so that it doesn't re-spread back into the esophagus, mouth, and throat.

Sometimes long term use of antibiotics can disrupt the natural flora of the stomach and intestines leading to yeast overgrowth that is difficult to eradicate. You can counteract this by regularly eating Yogurt, drinking Kefir, and taking pro-biotic supplements containing acidophilus and other friendly bacteria (the pro-biotic pills have to be kept in the refrigerator, btw). Kefir is like a yogurt smoothy that you can often find in the organic dairy section of your supermarket. Some brands of Kefir contain several different friendly types of bacteria.

Typically with resistant thrush, the doctor will do blood testing to check for other problems as it is sometimes a sign of a very weak immune system. Sometimes people yet undiagnosed with AIDS will present with resistant thrush, for instance.

Please be careful what you read on the web about this, btw, because there is tons of misinformation, myths, and alternative medicine quackery abounding on this topic. I actually am in favor of alternative medicine, but only when supported by scientific evidence.

"Thrush" is another name for a yeast infection (usually candida). It is sensitive to Ph balance (yours is probably off) There is a large choice of things that will kill the yeast without harming you, though the choice depends somewhat on where the problem is worse. Iodine helps a lot, and even vinegar, (at an appropriate strength for the body part being cleaned) works pretty well. These are local solutions, to what is evidently a systemic problem. What you need (probably) is a good "pro biotic". There is about 3 pounds of bacteria in each person, and if the balance is off, one is sick. A probiotic will contain the good bacteria so your body can get back in balance, and crowd the yeast out. A yeast infection is almost inevitable after an "antibiotic" kills off most of the good bacteria that you need for health. Eating lots of yogurt helps some.

There is something you can buy at wal-mart called ging and violet.(I'm not sure I spelt it right) It is not made for getting rid of thrush but it does get rid of it. I have never had it but my best friend gets it all the time. Just watch out because that stuff stains clothes. Just rub it right on the thrush itself. Good luck!

drink cranberry juice or eat cranberries or put cranberry sauce on your chicken or turkey dinner.
cranberries produce acidic urine and this acts as a antibiotic.
if taken regularly you will not get a repeat performance.
until the cranberrys kick in put local honey on the infected area.
this also acts as a antibiotic
good luck
